Elisa, born between mortal blood and vampire shadows, once placed all her faith in the Lockhart brothers. She dreamed of choosing humanity and building a future beside one of them. Then Amber, the servant's daughter, entered their lives, and Elisa became the one they dismissed, shamed, and sacrificed at every turn. Broken at last, she abandons the daylight world and embraces her vampire destiny. Yet when she arrives at the academy of the night in the embrace of a feared vampire successor, the brothers who cast her aside are consumed by terror and remorse.
